The Only Protest In America That Should Be Illegal
Check out this post by LaShawn Barber on the illegal alien protests. Here's an excerpt:
That takes nerve, mis amigos, gathering in large groups to protest in a foreign country, which you entered in violation of that country’s federal law.It is amazing the nerve that illegal aliens have to organize a protest demanding rights to live in the country into which they were never invited. I don't get it. Actually, I'm not sure what I am more amazed at, that they are doing it or that they are being allowed to. There was a time, not long ago, that people were actually deported when they were discovered to be illegal.

I don't understand the hostility that has arisen amongst so much of the christian world about this issue (save the Roman Catholics who seem to remember that we are not of this world, but another)
How can we justify our prejudice against a "minority" in the name of supposed patriotism? It doesn't make sense. At least, to my christian mind.
Mike, you have a point in regards to the level of or tone of hostility. We do need to be very careful there. I disagree with you, however, from that point on.
We're not talking about some aspect of patriotism and most certainly not about minorities or racism, nationalism or any other "ism" you want to add here. There are plenty of legalized Americans from every walk of life and nationality as it should be.
We're talking about the rule of law. If we do not have laws that are enforced, we are left with anarchy. If this is allowed to stand, any group that doesn't like the way something is done can simply rally together and discard the applicable law, demanding the enforcement of some imaginary right to do so. Anarchy is never good for anybody and is antithetical to a Christian worldview.
That is the road that this seems to be paving for us and I don't think any of us really want that.
I don't think this is an issue of prejudice. I think that's the spin being put on something that is an issue of legality. They are here illegally. It doesn't mean that I don't care less for them. There is a legal way of getting in to this country that many do follow; why shouldn't this same standard be applied to all?
