More IVF Gone Bad

A woman in Great Britain who had undergone IVF treatments in 2001 with her then boyfriend has been denied the right to use the resulting embryos following cancer treatments which left her infertile.

After the breakup, the woman's ex withdrew consent, resulting not only in the woman's inability to "use" the embryos, but in their inevitable destruction this October, since the European Court of Human Rights unanimously ruled that the embryos do not have an independent right to life.

Speaking from a pro-life position and responding to
the ex-boyfriend's change of heart on becoming a father, Josephine Quintavalle of the pro-life group Comment on Reproductive Ethics pointed out that he had become a father when the embryos were created. That fact alone, however, has never stopped us from doing whatever we want to just because we can--all moral and ethical considerations aside.

Sadly, this is just another example of what happens when humanity attempts to take creation into its own hands...a job it has no right nor capacity to do.

Story here.
