The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives. We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and "slipped the surly bonds of earth" to "touch the face of God." ~President Ronald Reagan

I will never forget that day. I was only 11 years old and we were so excited about the school teacher who was going to space. It was sad as the abrupt change of events caused our emotions to change from elation to grief. The interviews with family and the constant replay of the shuttle disintegrating in mid air forever etched the memory in our minds. Although the tragedy was not on the scale and intensity of 911, it still caused our nation to grieve in a similar way. Thank you, David, for honoring them today. Kim
I visited Cape Canaveral one year after the tragedy and I remember standing in front of the water and looking out in the distance trying to imagine (with my then 7 year old mind) what it must have been like on that day. A most surreal experience!
