Alex Forrest offers an excellent worldview analysis of the events surrounding hurricane Katrina here.

This very good as far as it goes. But what also of the 'thorny' issue I have recently addressed of 'God's hand' in 'disasters'? Is God in control of this world - including the bad things in it - or not?

Therefore what part did he play in wehat happened in New Orleans? For a true wolrdview analysis this issue must also be addressed. But I warn you guys many Christians will not like a truly biblical analysis.

Both James White and John Piper, like me, made exactly this point in assessment's of 9/11 (links on my site). (Did he really say that?)

The fact is that God has, thoughout history, becuas eof our persoanl or institutionalised sin, allowed the devil to have his way and perpetrwate evil in the world. Just as he did by allowing what appeared as evil - the death of his own Son - to be done by evil hands (or sometimes 'natural disaster' hands').

What this means is that God is NOT the author of evil, the devil is. But sometimes, because of sin 'calmait in the city' has God's hand plainly in it (se: Amos 3:6 and Christ's own confirmation of it at Luke 13:1-5).

Do not pick on David or Alex for expressing this view. If you want to get upset about it pick on me (or James White or John Piper). But if we are expressing 'worldivews' concerning what happened in New Orleans then we must articuylate the relevant, harder bits of Scripture as well as the easy bits.

(Good to see you back David)

David forgive me!

I made the classic error of reading your 'top post' and Alex's (and hten commenting) and not your second!

I see you have already linked to my comments on the subject. Again forgive my assumption that perhaps you had not considered the difficult issues too!

No apology necessary, Peter. Not a problem.
