Worldview Focus: Pat Day
From time to time, I will be highlighting individuals who are examples of men and women who have based their lives on their biblical worldview. These are individuals who have integrated their faith into every aspect of their lives, rather than compartmentalizing their spirituality from their "secular" work or daily life.
Pat Day is one such man. The retirement announcement of this Hall of Fame jockey came yesterday after an amazing career including 8,802 victories, including 2,481 at Churchill Downs. Though Day has set numerous records on the track, he is known as much by his life off the track.
Day is never ashamed to talk about his faith or the fact that his Christian values were the driving factor of his success as a jockey and the guidestone of the decisions he makes both on and off the track. Day is an exceptional example of an individual who lives out his worldview because his Christian faith motivates his goal of excellence in his sport while his ultimate goal is to glorify God in all he does.
Rick Bozich has written an excellent article on Day for this mornings edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal. I encourage you to read this story of a truly giant of a man.

Great post, David. I'm gonna put something on my blog.
Thanks, Tim. And thanks for the post over at your blog.
By the way, if anyone else is reading this and hasn't gone to Tim's blog yet, go! He does a great job of covering athletes who do what Pat Day does...live according to their biblical worldview.
