Jim Kelly's Son Dies

Especially since becoming the father of a little boy, I have a special place in my heart for those who face the illness and sometimes death of their children. Today, it is for Jim Kelly, Hall of Famer and former Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, who lost his son, Hunter, to a rare disorder called Krabbe's Disease. This is a disease of the central nervous system which is always fatal, usually killing children within a few years of their diagnosis. Hunter was diagnosed with Krabbe's Disease soon after his birth on February 14, 1997. Kelly dedicated his induction into the National Football League Hall of Fame to his son. I remember hearing the touching words of that speech well:
"It's been written that the trademark of my career was toughness. The toughest person I ever met in my life was my son, my hero, Hunter. I love you, buddy."
I pray God's peace and blessings on the Kelly family.

Right there with you on this. I thought the same thing when I heard about Kelly's son, and I had a similar reaction when the sons of Trent Dilfer and Joe Jurevicius died, too. I can't imagine the sorrow they must feel.
